I know there are a couple of other history buffs on my flist so maybe one of you can help me...

Does anyone remember the main Gladiator fic archive?

I want to say it was called Strength and Honor or SPQR, but I could be wrong. It had the HUGE epic length Gladiator fic on it stretching from Maximus's childhood through the beginning of Gladiator. It also had the WIP about how Maximus went from a common soldier to general involving befriending the old general's wolfdog.

Cooking With Genevieve: Meatloaf Edition

This can be done with either turkey or beef (possibly chicken? I've never worked with ground chicken before). The base recipe is for either a large loaf pan or two small loaf pans. I halved the recipe for a single small loaf pan and it fed 4, so I assume the full recipe would feed 8 with leftovers.

This is entirely gluten-free. Can be made allergy free by substituting the egg with flax gel (grind 1 part flax seeds, add 3 parts water, and blend). I've also heard people successfully used olive oil for the binding in meatloaf.

Ingredients
2 lbs lean ground meat of your choosing
10oz tomato paste
1 bell pepper, chopped (I split mine half red, half green for more flavor)
1 egg (if you're halving, crack the egg into a bowl, beat it, use half the mix)
1 onion, grated (yes, I mean with your cheese grater. Trust me, the texture is awesome)
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup rolled oats
1.5 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
6 oz tomato paste

Directions
Pre-heat oven to 350F

1. Wash hands very well and prepare to get messy.
2. Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl, mix well with your hands.
3. Pour into loaf pan, even top with your hands.
4. Using a knife, make horizontal trenches about half the pan deep down the pan.

5. Smooth the second bit of tomato paste over the entire top of the loaf. The paste will melt and drip into the trenches
6. Bake at 350F for 1.5 hours or until meat reaches proper cooked temperature.

Nothing too fancy, just the basic striped one since I haven't done them since like omg the 80s, but if you want one let me know what colors you need. If you DESPERATELY want a different fandom representation let me know what color you'd like it to be and I'll add it to this chart.
